this is my double page spread, i have kept the same purple banner where the title is at the top, but pretty much everything else is different, the whole page is taken over by the one photo, the subjects in the picture are all more to the right side of the picture, so i darkened a section of the left side of the picture, so i could put text over it that is clear to read. 

this is the music video by the Foo Fighters of the song Walk, the video is heavily bassed on the film Falling Down, which was created in 1993, according to Dave Grohl he came up with the verse "having a trial" after he was teaching his first daughter to walk, the song was supposed to be on the previous album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, but Dave Put it as the last song of the album Wasting Light because it "sort of makes sence to the albums theme of time and second chances" and to "end the record on a posotave note"

as i am creating a dossier of Submarine and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 i have decided to put the trailer and a review of the film on my blog (trailer and review for Harry Potter in next post)

This is the contents page slightly improved, if you looked at the text on the left side of the page you would have saw that it was not lined up well, so this is a version that i lined the text up better than the last, so it looks more professional

This is the line-up for Reading festival 2012, in my oppinion this looks awesome! with Foo Fighters, Paramore, Billy Talent and Coheed and Cambria being my highlights at the moment, I already have my ticket and i can not wait!

This is my final magazine contents page, i used kind of the same style from the front cover, as the pictures have the splats all over them, and the purple banner under the title, the main difference is the text used, for this i used a white background where the text is going to be, i made the page numbers on the page simply plain black, while the writing that is telling you what is on that page is in a slightly dark red colour, this text stands out to who ever is looking at this page, without using large very bright text boxes like i used on the cover page.

Death of the music magazine

The music magazine industry is on the decline, NME reported a 14%  drop year on year to 27’650 sales a 4.7% decline compared to the previous six months. The music press have had huge competition from free information online, think, why would you pay for a magazine when you could get all of the information that you could get from a magazine for free, practically the only thing music magazines have now that the internet can’t give you is a free gift like a CD when you buy them, but with illegal downloads being popular at the moment you can get free music off the internet, also with things like MySpace and YouTube where you can listen to pretty much all music for free, you don’t really need some critic saying if a band is good or not, you can just find out for yourself, if you want to look something up about the band, you don’t just sit around waiting for the next issue of Kerrang, Big Cheese or Mojo and hope that they talk about the band you want to know more about, you simply type their name into Google or Bing and go and look them up on Wikipedia, in the more modern world magazines are slowly becoming more obsolete, yes it will be sad to see them go, but we don’t really need them, even if the industries that make the magazines stop selling them, its not like they will be forced to go out of business, its as simple as having your information on the internet and get your profit from advertising, that is how free magazines like Fly magazine gets its profit, through loads of advertising.      

the girl with the dragon tatoo soundtrack (created by Trent Reznor) is out now!! it features three hours of new music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. i am very exited about this for 2 reasons, the film Girl With The Dragon Tatoo is my second favourite film and Trent Reznor who is the creator of Nine Inch Nails is my second favourite musical artist. so long story short. I need to get this!

This is my final front cover
i made the pictures on the cover black and white because i think that if i left them in colour then the colours from the pictures and the colours i have used for the text boxes would most likily clash together and not look nearly as good as it can.
I chose the colour scheme of red yellow and purple because i thought that if i was making the pictures black and white then i would need a splash of colour to make it look more appealing and less bland, the reason i used the bright colours of red and yellow is because they are eye catching and when looking at the cover the bright colours will draw the readers eyes to the text inside of the box.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

on sunday the 20th of november me and a friend will be going to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers, we will be seeing them in the LG arena, this band is responsible for making songs like Can't Stop, By the Way, Snow and many others in total the amount of albums that they have is 10 albums, the first one called "The Red Hot Chili Peppers" came out in 1984, and have brought an album out in 2011 which is called "I'm With You".
i am very exited about seeing this band, as they have influenced my taste in music almost more than any band that i have heard of.
when i have been to the gig i will give a review of what i think of it as soon as i get the chance

first try of magazine cover

this is my first try of the magazine cover, i want to change a couple of the background pictures, replace one with a picture of the wailers at concert, and another with the Stephen and the Possetts, then i will put text on the cover, naming what all the pictures are about.

this is the first part of the cover i have made for media, so far it is only the title and a pitch black background, i have all the pictures i need for the cover, but there is the small matter of editing and then putting them on the cover so it looks like a pretty good cover (well thats what i hope).

kerrang magazine

Kerrang magazine would be most likily to be read by teenagers that are in to rock/ punk/ metal/ alternitave, pretty much anything that is not catagorised as "mainstream music" people that are older than teenagers do read the magazine, but i would say it is mainly for teens, what gives it away for me is on every magazine it always says about what posters they have in the magazine.

serif/sans serif

the differences between these to fonts are small, one has the serifs on them, one does not, but it makes a big difference in apperence, you would expect a serif font to be used on something with relitavely high status, for example vougle magazine, fonts without serifs you would expect yo find on a less high status magazine like LOOK magazine.

denotations & connotations

Denotations: things that litrally reprisent what that person/ those people/ that thing is -: eg. niform denotates he is a cop.

connotate: the aspects or elements of a chip that have symbolic or reprisentave meaning about the person, group, place or thing -:eg. the red nail varnish has connotations of power and is stromngly sexual although may imply a warning or danger.

first blog post (magazines)

in this first lesson of media, it was an introduction to the course, so we got into groups, got 2 different magazines, and got told to identify the differences and the similarities between them, you will be surprised what you can find when you look closely, the 2 magazines that i got were similar anyway, one was a gossip and fashion magazine, the other was a fashion magazine, so as you would expect, there were a fair few similarities, there was the similarities that you would expect on a magazine, main story has a picture on the cover that takes up the whole page, picture on the cover is put over the title hiding it a bit, bright colours to catch peoples eye. If you want to stereotype classes you could say that the gossip magazine named "LOOK!" would be for people in the lower/working classes, while the fashion magazine (company) would be for middle to upper classes. these magazines are not really my type of magazine (as i am a boy) but i can say i would much rather read company magazine over LOOK!, simply because LOOK! seems to be a magazine that has journalists pretty much stalking them to get story so it is more gossip articles, while in company it is interviews with celebrities so you get a more sophisticated article.
